Abstract Organic coatings protect metallic structures of significant commercial value. Regular inspections are required to ensure their integrity and, therefore, verify stated performance. However, for located in harsh places, coating inspection can pose safety and logistical challenges. Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is a rapid, nondestructive relatively inexpensive analytical technique. It currently employed analyze different chemicals fields like agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals. Similarly, hyperspectral imaging (HSI) creates spatial map spectral information by measuring light reflected from material. In this work, the NIR portion electromagnetic spectrum (NIR-HSI) used accurately distinguish between chemically binders organic coatings. addition, k -means clustering explored as tool provide diagnostic about inhomogeneities chemical structure an applied coating, which, if undetected, lead defects during service life.
